Tree saddle hunting has been around for more than 30 years, but its popularity has skyrocketed over the last five to 10 years. In particular, it has been widely embraced by the DIY, public-land, mobile-hunting community but has found a place with the private-land hunter as well. The tree saddle provides a way for a mobile hunter to enter the woods with reduced weight and bulk associated with traditional treestand setups. While there are plenty of ultralight treestands out there, the saddle offers an even lighter, more compact setup that essentially accomplishes the same thing.
