I’d hunted whitetail deer with a stick-and-string for six years before I first sat in a stand situated 22-yards from a feeder. I wasn’t thrilled. I was no whitetail expert, but I’d killed a handful of solid Pope & Young deer hunting travel patterns, calling, creeping close to buck bedrooms, etc. The thought of a feeder, frankly, disgusted me.
