In the annals of American firearms history, few names garner the respect of the .30-'06 Springfield. It is the cartridge that carried the U.S. military through two World Wars, the Korean conflict, and it even saw use in Vietnam. It is the benchmark against which all other hunting rounds are measured. But look closely at the name, and you'll find a mystery: "Aught Six."
