Alabama HOA Authorizes Killing Over 500 Canada Geese

A recent cull of geese has sparked outrage in both the hunting and animal rights communities as an Alabama HOA got approval from the USDA to kill 550 Canada geese.

Out of the southeast corner of the country come concerns over a neighborhood in northern Alabama bringing about the decimation of several hundred Canada geese in a planned cull due to an overpopulation problem.

Over 550 Canada geese were captured and killed in the Heritage Plantation neighborhood in Madison, AL by U.S. Department of Agriculture agents. However, there were no ducks or swans harmed during this event, according to the HOA board.

Citing rising health concerns amongst members of the community, including those of homeowners' animals and other waterfowl spotted with avian flu, the board sought approval from the USDA. Non-lethal methods had been used in the past to...
